During our first session, I will have a chat with you about your goals, and discuss how many times a week we should get together, and how I think we can achieve your goals.
I will assess how you perform doing a few basic movements such as lunges and squats, so that I know where we can begin, and how I can help to improve your form as we begin to have proper sessions.
One of the most important things to do is take measurements. I will do this and note these down so that we can refer back to your measurements each month, or every three months depending on your goals. For some people, we will focus on weight loss and getting these numbers down, and for others we will be looking at gaining and building muscle, and increasing some of these figures.
We will discuss nutrition, and if you need any supplements or support in order to meet your goals, and as I am also trained in rehab and injury, I will assess any old injuries or issues that you may have to ensure that we are taking these into consideration when putting together your plan.
Once we’ve got a plan together we will start working out on a regular basis. I typically hold my sessions in the personal training gym, so that we can work out without distraction, and so that you can build your confidence in private, before working your way towards working out in the main gym.
Sometimes we will go to the main gym, if this is something you’re comfortable with, so that we can utilise some of the equipment and machines that the gym has to offer, otherwise we will be working out in the personal training room doing a mix of weights, cardio and HIIT.
I will plan out your workouts ahead of the sessions and they will be on the board in the personal training gym when you arrive so we can run through what we will do and chat about any concerns, injuries or adjustments beforehand, and at the start of each session we will warm up and stretch before getting into the workout.
The workouts will be a mix of weight based movements, like rows, chest press, and bicep curls. Cardio, such as using the sled, the ropes, skipping, or boxing. And, we will also do bodyweight exercises such as press ups, chin ups, and lunges.
Each workout will be slightly different to work different muscles and get your heart rate up, while keeping it exciting and diverse.
